Rod MacFarlane award this year was presented to Lily Bank Resource Centre, Arbroath Road, Forfar, today on 24th November 2014.

The building has recently been given a makeover to provide improved movement within the building with wide corridors, fully accessible changing rooms, toilets and showers with tracking hoists. The access to the building has also been widened making the building provide a very comfortable place for all service users and staff at the centre.

The award was presented by the Provost of Angus, Mrs Helen Oswald at a short ceremony at the centre. ( picture above)

Each year the Award is presented to buildings or facilities in Angus which demonstrate the best examples of positive efforts being made to encourage the inclusion of disabled people. There were four buildings nominated this year.

The Rod MacFarlane Award is named after Rod MacFarlane who died in 1994 and was a campaigner for disabled people through his work as a regional councillor, chairman of Forfar and District Access for Disabled Trust and the first chairman of Angus Access Panel.
